Perast

Perast is a small and charming Baroque town located in the Bay of Kotor, in Montenegro. It is renowned for its stunning architecture and beautiful seaside views. The town features several well-preserved stone buildings, churches, and palaces that date back to the Venetian period. Just off the coast of Perast, there are two islets that also add to the charm of the region and are popular attractions for visitors:

 1. Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela): This artificial island holds a Roman Catholic church of the same name, which is a result of centuries of local seamen laying rocks and sinking old ships around a small crag. According to legend, the islet was created over the rocks after the discovery of a holy icon of the Virgin Mary and Child. Visitors are drawn by the beauty of the church and its rich collection of tapestries and paintings.

 2. St. George Island (Sveti Đorđe): Unlike its neighbor, St. George Island is natural and houses a Benedictine monastery dating back to the 12th century. The island is often featured in photographs thanks to its dense cypress trees and an old graveyard that envelops it with an aura of historical mystique. Perast and its surrounding islets are a centerpiece in the Bay of Kotor, offering not only historical and cultural richness but also providing a serene and remarkable setting for relaxation and exploration.

Tips for choosing photography locations

The number of places for photography depends on the time and number of photos, as well as the amount of emotions you want to get. If you need a short photo shoot for 1-2 hours, I recommend choosing places on the coast like Perast. If you want to cover 2-3 places and take unforgettable photos in different images, then of course the best choice would be Durmitor and the coast. But keep in mind that the journey from place to place can take 2-3 hours, and even longer in high season. It’s better to go to Durmitor overnight and take me as a photographer with you, take pictures near the house and ride in a rented car. If you have questions about the transfer, you can ask me. If you are planning a wedding in a specific restaurant, then I recommend choosing a place not far from the banquet venue. This way we won’t spend a lot of time on the road.
